The European Parliament today encouraged the Council to unblock the ‘Women on Boards’ Directive, in order to address gender inequality in Europe’s boardrooms.

There is plenty for Eurocadres to commend in the Romanian EU Presidency programme, which was published on January 15th. First and foremost, we welcome the fact that the Presidency will do all it can to ensure the whistleblower protection Directive dossier is completed before the EU elections.

The European Commission’s recently published ‘Study on the movement of skilled labour’ shows a significant increase in the share of high skilled EU movers. The proportion of high skilled EU movers amongst the employed population in the EU almost tripled to a total of 3.6 million, between 2004 and 2016.

The vote on Tuesday (20 November) by the European Parliament’s legal affairs committee (JURI), is primarily a cause for celebration for all European’s who wish for a more transparent and open Europe.
