“In the Mirror of Competences”
“In the Mirror of Competences”, a publication on a European glossary and a European competence framework for supervision and coaching, was launched at an event end of November 2016.
The manual is published in English and German. Michaela Judy (right), project coordinator of the European ECVision project (European System of Comparability and Validation of Supervisory Competences), and Wolfgang Knopf (left), former president of ANSE (Association of National Organisations for Supervision in Europe), presented this book end of November in Vienna.
The event once again brought the project partners Eurocadres, ANSE and the Wiener Volkshochschulen together and opened a space to share experiences in discussing and implementing the results of the project since its final conference one year ago.
Describing competences mirrors at best the basic assumptions representing a certain profession. This manual accomplishes exactly that for supervision and coaching, containing the European Glossary and the European Competence Framework for supervision and coaching.
During the panel debate participants reported the high speed of use, the growing cross-border aspects in the qualification curricula, the added value for a European professional identity, the better conditions for cross-border studies and, in particular, the better mutual understanding of words and terms despite diversity.

Sijtze de Roos (middle), the new ANSE president, spoke about a resolution of the ANSE meeting that emphasises the »volatile work environment« and the role of supervision and coaching in supporting managers and teams in their tackling the challenges of change. He underlined ANSE’s goal to go ahead towards proving and achieving a European professional card for supervisors and coaches.
Gerald Musger, former vice president of Eurocadres cooperating in the ECVision project, delivered the greetings of Eurocadres president Martin Jefflén and assured ANSE in its efforts to support and represent ANSE goals within the European Social Dialogue according to the cooperation agreement.
