Do not forget the skilled migrants
Today on the International Migrants Day, Eurocadres wants to remind of all the skilled talent entering Europe during the current refugee influx. We should not be blinded by all the negative news reports and the toughening immigration policies. Instead we would like to focus on opening possibilities on the labour market and in higher education.
Employment is a key part of the integration process. A large part of the refugees entering Europe hold a higher education degree or are eligible to pick up higher education studies. It is essential that we do not waste this talent.
Due to problems with recognition of qualifications, skills and work experience, many refugees and migrants end up unemployed or underemployed. Many highly-skilled refugees and migrants are working in low-skilled, temporary and poorly paid jobs. A loss not only for the affected persons, but also the receiving societies and their economies.
