Today Eurocadres members outlined the trade union’s vision for the future of work in Europe, during our 6th congress in Madrid, Spain.
In May 2021 EU leaders, heads of state and governments and social partners gathered in Porto, Portugal for the Social Summit where the action plan implementing the pillar was signed by the representatives of EU institutions and social partners. Martin Jefflén, participating for Eurocadres, underlined the need for lifelong learning and investments in skills and education.
As most meetings in these COVID-19 times the June 23 Tripartite Social Summit for Growth and Employment (TSS) took place as a video conference. Eurocadres highlighted the need for investing in occupational health & safety and addressing psychosocial risks.
Addressing today’s Tripartite Social Summit for Growth and Employment, Eurocadres President, Martin Jefflén, profiled the successful whistleblowers protection campaign, which through the hard work of trade unions and NGOs, has led to a stronger Directive, giving more options for reporting crime and corruption and better protection for whistleblowers.
The European social partners agreed on a new work programme for the years 2019-2021. As a recognised European social partner Eurocadres has been involved in the negotiations.
In the Tripartite Social Summit on 16 November 2017 Eurocadres stressed just transition and criticised the lack of whistleblower protection.
We firmly believe that a more social Europe is a stronger Europe. Social divides within and between member states do not foster improved resilience.
Eurocadres main message at the Tripartite Social Summit, is that the time is right for an EU-wide whistleblower protection. With European companies working across country borders and employees making use of their freedom of mobility and taking up work in another country it is highly topical.
Next Monday – January 23 – the European Commission will reveal its latest thinking on social policy and legislation at a conference “The European Pillar of Social Rights: going forward together” with President Juncker and Commissioner Thyssen.
